That doesn’t mean being overly optimistic or naive rather it means looking at the facts objectively and making rational decisions based on those facts. Then, instead of focusing on how bad things feel right now, I look for opportunities to make the situation better than before. I take a few deep breaths and remind myself that this too shall pass. Even though I know that keeping my cool is the best course of action, it can be difficult when emotions are running high and panic sets in. When there’s chaos around me, whether it be at work or during an emergency situation, I remind myself why being calm makes sense: It helps create solutions rather than more problems people are more likely to listen and accept advice from someone who isn’t frantic and panicking staying relaxed allows us all to think clearly so we can make good decisions quickly. But even then, I knew that if I stayed focused on the goal and kept a level head, things would turn out better for me. In my life, I’ve found myself in stressful situations where it was easy to succumb to fear or anger. I believe that staying calm when everyone is in panic and bringing the positive to every tough situation is one of the most important skills I can have.
